West Garden Grove Select
West Garden Grove Youth Baseball (WGGYB) will be offering tryouts for the Spring West Garden Grove Select Baseball Program which runs from February 2019 through Spring All-Stars (approximately July 2019). There is no cost or obligation to try out for the program. The age divisions for the program are 9 U, 10 U, 11 U, and 12 U. Players should register for tryouts based on their league age, see Age Chart.
The Select Program is designed for those players who desire a more intense baseball experience within our league. Select Team Members, both players and coaches, are expected to put forth considerable amount of time, effort, and commitment beyond that of a typical regular season. Participants will be rewarded with more frequent playing opportunities under more challenging circumstances with more intensive coaching and training.
All Managers and Coaches must be approved by the Board Members and all volunteers and players must abide by our league rules and code of conduct.
Each team will be allotted practice and game time on our fields during the spring and fall seasons, and the use of our league insurance for the year.
We are partnering with other leagues in our area to develop similar programs within their leagues. We anticipate this program will continue to grow each year. ***

What are the West Garden Grove Select? The West Garden Grove Select is the Select Program through West Garden Grove Youth Baseball. These teams play a competitive schedule instead of the traditional recreation schedule.
What is the West Garden Grove Select schedule? Each West Garden Grove Select team will begin practices in December 2018/January 2019, and play games and tournaments through July 2018.
Where do the West Garden Grove Select play? Home games will be at West Garden Grove Youth Baseball and away games throughout Orange County and various tournament locations.
Can players play West Garden Grove Select and recreational baseball? No, the West Garden Grove Select program is played instead of playing for a recreational team due to the increased schedule and competition.
Is this travel ball? No, travel ball is far more expensive and does not represent a league. West Garden Grove Select teams have a home field and play WGGYB All-Stars!
How much does this cost? The same commitment as the recreation league, plus additional fees may be included. The registration fee covers almost everything - registration, insurance, uniforms (jersey, hat, belt, and socks), fields and umpires for home games.
What are the residency requirements? There are no boundary restrictions for registering and playing in the West Garden Grove Select.
***Be advised, that on December 8th,2018, if not enough players tryout for a team, or has enough players but the players don't form a competitive team. WGGYB will not have a Select team for that division.
